- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each use. This ensures a controlled flame and minimizes soot.
- Keep candles at least two feet away from flammable materials. Avoid placing them near curtains, books, or clothing.
- Avoid drafts. Keep candles away from open windows, vents, and fans to ensure an even burn and prevent accidental flare-ups.
- Use a stable, heat-resistant surface. Place candles on sturdy, non-flammable surfaces to catch any melted wax.
- Monitor the flame. If it flickers excessively or becomes too high, extinguish the candle, trim the wick, and relight when cooled.
- Space multiple candles at least three inches apart. This prevents heat from affecting surrounding candles and promotes an even burn.
- Do not use candles as nightlights. Always extinguish before going to sleep.
- Limit burning time to four hours. Allow the wax to cool before relighting to maintain the candle’s longevity.
- Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains. Burning to the bottom can overheat the container and pose a safety risk.
